TOUR ALUMNI COMMENTS
"CONSIDERING ALL ELEMENTS, WHAT WAS YOUR OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE TOUR?"

"It was wonderful, well thought out, everyone we met at the restaurants and B&Bs where we stayed were exceptionally hospitable!" - Carolyn, Fleming Island, FL - Thirsty Traveler's Tour 2010

"Fantastic. For the price, this is absolutely the best I could possibly imagine a trip to Europe could be. Rooms were always very good. Food was almost always wonderful. We saw all the "sights" while still getting time to experience the "real" Europe (relaxing, sitting, enjoying a glass of wine in a park). I cannot imagine how this trip could be better. And, the price cannot be beaten!!"- Lorin, Jacksonville, FL - Rome to Paris 2007 & 2009

"I thoroughly enjoyed my tours with David McGuffin. David is well educated on every location he tours to and proved to be very helpful with everything from restaurants in the area to speaking the language of the region. The cost is more than fair, the food is impeccable and the hotels are clean and safe." -Jennifer, Orange Park, FL- Rome to Paris 2009

"Action packed. Full of fun."-Scott, Port Orange, FL - Netherland, Germany and Austria 2010

"An awesome experience! there was so much to see and do, that I would have wandered for days on end if it weren't for Dave keeping us focused." -Miriam, Orange Park, FL - Germany, Austria & Czech Republic 2010

CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS IN ITALY

December 18-24, 2010            $2489 + air

RomeRome has long been known as the site of the first “Christmas celebration.”  Ever since the birth of Christ, believers have celebrated his birth, so naturally, Rome became a focal point for such celebration.  Romans take great pride in their creation of Nativity Crèches spread throughout the cities piazzi during the Christmas season (usually from December 5 to January 6).  These nativity displays were originally a publicity stunt dreamed up by St. Francis of Assisi who wanted to involve the peasants in celebrating the life of Jesus.

Pipers and Bagpipes are unique to Italy during the Christmas season.  The zampognari (shepherds who play the bagpipes) come down from their mountain homes during the Christmas season to perform in many of Rome’s piazzi or market squares.  Legend says that once the shepherds entertained the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem, so today, the zampognari perform their own private pilgrimage, stopping before every shrine to the Madonna and every Nativity scene.
